Wet Ink, the magazine of new writing
Support Australian literature by supporting Wet Ink
In an era of rapid global change, literature has become more important than ever.
Literature is a reflection of our past, it helps us make sense of the present, and allows us to dream of the future. It crosses boundaries of nationality, class, gender, and religion. Literature defines a culture by examining a nation's ideals, its traditions and its concerns.
Wet Ink
Australia has a rich literary history stretching from the storytelling tradition of Indigenous Australians to the works of Henry Lawson and Banjo Patterson, Miles Franklin, and Nobel Prize for Literature Laureate Patrick White, right up to modern day writers such as Thomas Keneally, Helen Garner, David Malouf, Geraldine Brooks and Morris West.

Many of these writers began by having their work published in magazines like Wet Ink. In the three years since it began, Wet Ink has already published writers who have then gone on to become nationally and internationally recognised. Supporting magazines like Wet Ink is essential to Australia's cultural heritage.

Individuals and businesses also benefit because literature encourages creative and critical thinking - thinking 'outside the square' - and the ability to look at the familiar from a new perspective. Literature plays a vital role in creating a lively, inclusive community. A vibrant literary community indirectly helps other businesses by attracting people to festivals, salons etc, which benefits hotels, restaurants, transportation and others. It stimulates economic growth through employment of staff, payment to writers, use of local businesses such as printers and couriers, and contributes to a nation's social capital and cultural heritage.

By supporting Wet Ink, you will foster Australian literature, nurture this nation's creativity, and show your appreciation for its artistic accomplishments.

That has to be a very good feeling.
